Isle of Memories

Isle of Skye

I came to the place we once promised to visit -

and found it even more beautiful than you described, my love.

Yet your betrayal burned more deeply than the wind that swept those cliffs.

The highlands rose in their solemn grace,

the waters shone, blue and clear,

and I remembered the shimmer of your eyes…

green and bright with dreams of the adventures we would share.

But here we are, you and I,

destined never to meet again.

Once, we were one... roaming the world in awe, you leading me into this grand yet humbling journey.

Now I travel on, sometimes alone,

sometimes among friends and strangers,

haunted by the touch of your hand,

the rhythm of our hearts in sync with trains, planes, ferries….

all lulled by that one tranquil sea

where you whispered I would always be yours.

You left a wound, oh betrayer of my heart.

How do I go on this journey alone?

And yet, I do.

I still wander through marvels and wonders,

and often remember how we dreamed of seeing them together,

once, long ago…

when the ocean was as blue as your eyes,

and the sky as clear as our hearts were then.

The air carries the scent of the loch,

and the breeze of the mighty golden highlands!

Our Isle of Skye,

The isle of lost memories.
